"The pig aspires to a pig's happiness". John Stuart Mill
"Where is the lord riding?" "I don't know," I replied. I just want to get out of here, just get out of here. Only then can I reach my goal." "So you know your goal?" he asked. "Yes," I answered. I have said it already. Get out of here, that's my goal”. Kakfa
This contemporary Triclinium invites you to explore the complexities and contradictions of our current society. A society full of imbalances produced by itself as a community and then tries to rebalance.
In this broken, dehumanized and alienated society, the artists Rosalia Banet, Hoesy Corona and Natalia Revilla address different issues related to these inequalities.
We will be in the presence of a contemporary triclinium where nothing is what it seems, where everything seems little and the desire to have leaves aside the being.
The food cannot be eaten. It is not shared. And it becomes elitist.
The landscape cannot be contemplated. It is diluted and plants and languages become extinct.
The human disappears, swallowed by itself.
Rosalia Banet focuses on the communal and collective act of eating and food, which may be related to scarcity, unequal distribution of resources, or lack of access to a balanced and healthy diet. Her work offers a critical reflection on these probabilities present in our society.
“The food system affects the entire social structure, and food choice and consumption have individual, social, cultural, economic, political and environmental consequences. Food has therefore become a mirror of today's society, the consumer society, that of excesses and overabundance, which hides, under attractive colored packaging, great inequalities, prejudices and marginalization”. Rosalia Banet
Hoesy Corona addresses migration, a relevant social phenomenon that highlights the experiences and challenges of migrants. Through energetic textile sculptures, Corona plunges into the migrant experience and invites us to question the barriers and divisions that separate us as human beings. His works confront us with the reality of an increasingly fragmented society and urge us to seek empathy and solidarity as tools to overcome differences and build a more inclusive world.
Natalia Revilla, for her part, focuses on endangered languages and the importance of nature. Her artistic work addresses the loss of linguistic diversity and the negative impact of cultural homogenization in our globalized society. Revilla invites us to explore how the loss of linguistic diversity and environmental degradation are interconnected. Her installations and artistic interventions make us aware of the importance of preserving both languages in danger of disappearing and the biodiversity that surrounds us and that is fading away.
A triclinium with three protagonists and many diners, which shows the transparency of the void through a courageous aesthetic critical project that advocates for a more equitable society by promoting social participation in the world of art.
Questions from contemporary times that seek to make us reflect on the elements and symbols of the community.
